Boris Johnson resumes work after battling COVID-19

British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has warned that a second Covid-19 peak will be disaster if lockdown on his country is lifted too early. He made the declaration as he returned to work after battling with the coronavirus.

In his first public statement after recovering from the virus, Boris Johnson said despite pressure to ease the lockdown, this is a moment of maximum risk. “This is the moment when we can press home our advantage. It is also the moment of maximum risk, because I know that there will be many people looking now at our apparent success and beginning to wonder whether now is the time to go easy on those social distancing measures” he said.

The next few weeks he added will be very crucial in kicking the virus out of Britain. “I think, looking at it all, that we can turn the tide within the next 12 weeks and I’m absolutely confident that we can send coronavirus packing in this country.”

“Once again, I want to thank you, the people of this country, for the sheer grit and guts, you have shown and are continuing to show” he remarked.

Boris Johnson was taken to hospital on April 5, before being admitted to intensive care the next day after his symptoms worsened.
