A bike rider and two passengers have been rescued from a river in Bum, a town in Boyo division of the North West Region. The incident happened on Tuesday November 29, 2022.
The three fell into the rover after crashing on the bridge’s wooden rail which then gave way: “While climbing the bridge over river Ngouma, he missed his track and fell off” recounted a local who was at the scene during the rescue operation.
Miraculously, all three were rescued from the drowning. The bike however, remains submerged under the water as locals make efforts to get it out.
The bridge, MMI gathered, remains a death trap for locals who have no other choice but to keep using it that way.
The structure which is locally made “has been carried away by floods five consecutive times. Please let’s help this community…” appealed a local at the site of the accident.
