Breaking! Bayern Munich suspends Sadio Mane for punching Leroy Sane

Renowned Senegalese forward Sadio Mane has been suspended by his club Bayern Munich following an altercation with Leroy Sane following their Champions League defeat to Manchester City in midweek.

Mane’s problems on the field, where he has now gone 12 games without a goal, have been matched off the field, with an altercation in the dressing room following Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City.

According to Sky Germany, Mane punched Sane in the face after an argument in the final stages of the game at the Etihad.

Mane, who joined Bayern last summer from Liverpool, was only deployed as a late substitute at the Etihad but was embroiled in an on-field brawl with Sane in the 83rd minute. That brawl continued in the locker room after the game when Mane hit a teammate in the face. Bayern has fined Mane, but he has also been briefly suspended by club officials.

“Sadio Mane, 31, will not be included in the FC Bayern squad for this Saturday’s home match against 1899 Hoffenheim. This is due to his misconduct after Bayern’s Champions League match at Manchester City. Mané will also be given a fine,” a club statement read.

Sane suffered a bloodied lip as a result of the incident, and the duo were “removed” by the rest of the squad, who were “visibly startled” by the Senegalese’s conduct.

Both players apologized to their teammates ahead of training on Thursday, as Mane awaited the club’s penalty.

Despite reports that he could have his contract terminated less than a year after coming from Liverpool, the 31-year-old has been suspended.

Throughout his career, the two-time African Footballer of the Year has financially supported his family and constructed a palace for them in his hometown of Bambali.

His first campaign in Germany, though, has been difficult. Injuries terminated his chances of playing in the World Cup in Qatar, but even before that, he had fallen short of the heights he achieved during his illustrious tenure at Anfield.
