Breaking: British PM, Boris Johnson set to resign amidst scandals

The news has been announced that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will today be resigning as the leader of his party, the Conservatives.

He has also indicated that he will stay on as PM until October when a replacement has been found.

His resignation comes at the back of an onslaught of resignations from many government ministers over the previous two days.

The British PM’s premiership will expire less than a month after he succeeded in fending off a challenge to his leadership because top ministers were among those to resign in protest at how Downing Street handled a number of recent scandals.

Boris Johnson is the PM who successfully executed UK’s exit from the European Union in what has become known as Brexit.

He oversaw the management of the COVID-19 pandemic which many have described as a ‘disaster’ given that the UK recorded one of the highest levels of deaths.

Mr. Johnson’s government has also been in the spotlight for many other reasons, some of which involved organizing parties while the country was in lockdown.

This resignation makes Boris Johnson the 3rd Prime Minister to resign in the last 6 years.
