Tension in Sangmalima Cameroon
A violent riot has ensued in the town of Sagmelima, Lobo Division, South Region of Cameroon, between the indigenes (Bulu) against non-indegines in the town, particularly the Bamouns.
“The Bulus have gone on a rampage, attacking foreigners, following the death of one theirs. The deceased businessman had been involved in a dispute with a Bamoun,” a resident in Sangmelima told MMI.
The Sangmelima indigenes are convinced that their son was killed through witchcraft by the man with whom he was at loggerheads, our source revealed.
Angered by this probability, “they have launched an attack, evicting all non-indigenes from their town, and destroying their businesses, and markets,” our source who is also a business man told us.
He added that most non-indigenes have remain locked up in their homes out of fright for what may happen to them.
“I cannot even step out to take pictures, it’s not safe, we are all indoors, for fear of being attacked,” he added.
We are unsure if there has been any serious casualty the riots persist. Details will be provided as soon as we get them.
