Former students of one of Cameroon’s oldest secondary schools, Bishop Rogan College, are holding their Annual General Meeting as the institution draws closer to its Diamond Jubilee to be celebrated in 2024.
Ex-Students of the 56-year-old school, most of them above 40 years of age, are converging on the Bishop Rogan College campus at Small Soppo Buea in a three-day GA running from November 13-15, 2020.
According to the National President of BIROCOL Ex-Students Association, Simon Molute, “there is no place like home” and they have always felt nostalgic about the institution ever since some of them left more than 30 years ago.
He said this year’s GA is different because it is holding in the presence of the Apostolic Administrator of Buea Diocese, Mgr Micheal Bibi, who is also an Ex-Student of Bishop Rogan College.
He thanked the students and teachers of BIROCOL, congratulating their alma mater for scoring a 100 percent pass in both the Ordinary and Advanced Level GCE exams this year.
Mr Molute promised that a more delighted and focused BIROCOL Alumni will emerge after this year’s General Assembly.
The age-old Bishop Rogan College will be celebrating 60 years of existence in 2024. The institution has trained some of Cameroon’s refined intellectuals and has endured the crisis in the English-speaking regions with its usual excellent performances.
The General Assembly meeting was preceded by a mass celebrated by the Apostolic Administrator of the Buea Diocese, Mgr Micheal Bibi, who is equally the Proprietor of the institution as well as all other Catholic education institutions.
Last year’s BIROCOL EXSA was held in November at Bonamusadi, Douala, where a new executive committee was voted.
Mr Simon Molute was voted to replace Joseph Aza as President of BIROCOL EXSA for the next four years.
