Buea Bishop visits Moliwe accident victims, prays for quick recovery

The Bishop of Buea, Michael Bibi, on Monday, April 3, visited victims of the ghastly car accident that killed six at Moliwe, near Limbe, on Friday, March 31.

His Lordship Michael Bibi was at the Bingo Baptist Hospital in Mutengene and the Limbe Regional Hospital, where close to 20 survivors have been hospitalised.

Most of the accident victims were students of Government Technical High School Ombe, one of the oldest technical colleges in Cameroon.

In a compassionate message released on March 31, the Bishop prayed for a quick recovery of those injured.

“I extend my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and share in their pain,” the Bishop said.

“I also ask the Diocesan community to pray that God, in his infinite mercy, may grant eternal rest to the departed souls, heal the wounded, and strengthen the survivors. May He also grant consolation to the bereaved families in this moment of grief.”

The accident involved a sand truck that clashed head-on with a 19-seater bus that carried 26 people, including 20 students.

Three students died in the incident, and many of them got injured.

Some of them however survived the ghastly accident without sustaining any injuries.

The accident was linked to a brake failure on the part of the truck driver.
