Buea: Bomaka Goes For Days Without Electricity

Residents of Bomaka, a neighborhood in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon say they have gone for several days without electricity.

The affected areas of the power outage are Mile 17 New Layout going right up to Bomaka. The cause of the prolonged blackout in these areas is said to be the explosion of an electricity transformer.

Residents of these areas say they have laid several complaints to the electricity company, ENEO about the fault. They are however yet to give a favorable response to their complaints or to begin repair works to reinstate power.

Residents say the little electricity which they happen to have has a very low voltage which often damages their appliances.

Residents of the affected areas are calling on the authorities to intervene in the situation so that electricity can be restored. They fear the silence of the electricity company means possible lengthy periods without power.
