Buea on alert: Ekema Patrick Esunge dead, but still “commanding”

Several activities have been abruptly postponed or brought forward in Buea in the South West region of Cameroon.The reason is the funeral program of the deceased Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick Esunge.According to the funeral program, Ekema Patrick Esunge will be laid to rest this Saturday December 14, 2019.At the Buea regional hospital, hospital officials have in between pressure and negotiation caused deceased families that have corpses in the mortuary to either remove the corpses earlier before Friday December 13th or postpone to other dates.A source at the Buea regional hospital has told Mimi Mefo Info “…the director of the hospital has taken the measure to avoid congestion at the regional hospital on Friday when Ekema Patrick Esunge will be removed”.Some victims of the abrupt arrangement have been expressing disappointment but lament that nothing can be done to remedy the situation.At the University of Buea, a graduation ceremony that was to take place on Saturday December 14th has been brought forward to Friday.Marriages, birthday parties, cultural activities and other events have been postponed to avoid congestion in Buea.Security men have been posted in several strategic places in Buea. The grandstand and the council office are receiving minor renovations.Ekema Patrick Esunge died in Douala on the 27th of October and the body was deposited at the Bonanjo military hospital mortuary.
