For a third day, residents of Buh, Bui Division in the North West region are hiding in the bushes after soldiers stormed the locality.
While their situation remains deplorable, there are the lucky ones who made it away from the village alive.
At press time, two persons are reported to have been shot dead by the ‘mad’ soldiers that stormed the locality.
“People are still in the bushes for over three days now,” says a source, adding that the military “… razed down more than 50 houses”.
“[They] killed two people already yesterday; one of them is a traditional ruler who came out at about 7 pm to see if the military were still there but was killed with a knife,” the source narrates.
A second victim, Mimi Mefo Info gathered, is a mentally unstable man that roamed the village.
“We don’t yet know the exact number of people they have killed so far but all good looking houses in the village are gone, ” a local tells Mimi Mefo Info.
The raid in Buh is one of uncountable instances of injustices and violence on vulnerable populations of Cameroon’s Anglophone regions where separatist fighters are combatting government troops.
Despite often glaring instances of evidence, both sides have often denied any wrongdoing.
