Three thousand one hundred and sixty-five (3165) Muslim Pilgrims will be expected to take part in this year’s trip to Mecca, known as Hajj.
The information is contained in a release signed by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji yesterday May 5, 2023.
Last year, 2700 places were validated by the National Hajj Commission. The increase of 465 places according to the release is a a result of “high demand this year”.
Despite the increase, the subsidy by the President of the Republic was maintained at 1 billion Franc CFA.
Pilgrims will however be expected to disburse the sum of two million nine hundred and eighteen thousand two hundred and sixty- eight as opposed to that of last year which stood at two million nine hundred twenty- four thousand.
Interested persons have been cautioned to register solely with Afriland First Bank.
