For four years, different separatist factions have been battling against Cameroonian soldiers. Their goal is to create a breakaway state, Ambazonia.
With what seems to be an impasse for several months now, with no side winning, one separatist faction is seeking to up the ante.
The Ambazonia Governing Council, AGovC yesterday April 9 announced it was working with the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, a similar separatist faction in neighboring Nigeria.
Dr Cho Ayaba Lucas, leader of AGovC said the agreement was an “Alliance for survival crucial for purpose of self-preservation of two nations.”
In a press conference held with IPOB’s leader, Dr Cho Ayaba said “we will continue to arm every Ambazonian to make sure that even after independence there will be no threat”.
“…What we should never allow again, Biafrans, Ambazonians and all people in the continent is to allow people to hijack our state,” he stated.
IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu on his part said, “It is a mission and journey, there is no turning back… it does not matter what the enemy is doing, any form of brutality against us, we are resolved and determined that we prosecute this campaign to an end”.
Both entities, Kanu added, “… must not make this mistake to think that help is going to come from someone else”.
The first part of their three-phase partnership, the separatist leaders furthered, is a win-win exchange of ideas, as they chart a common path towards achieving their aims.
Other pro-Ambazonia factions are yet to make any formal declaration regarding the partnership.
