Two kids of Nigerian origin have been killed by Government forces in Ekombe, South West region. Reports say, the soldiers who were triggered by a separatists-planted explosive, opened fire on a shop where the teenagers were hiding, killing them.

Passengers traveling between Bamenda and Bafoussam say the road linking both towns has become suicidal, as separatist fighters continue to lunch attacks. Traffic on the stretch was temporarily suspended as gunshots and explosions went off this morning. Security forces restored circulation after a gun battle with the separatist fighters.

There is high effervescence across Bamenda as lay private and denominational schools continue to exploit the non-functional gap by government schools to operate. Many of these institutions have produced radio spots, and launched admissions ahead of the new school year.

The National Communication Council president has called on journalists in the North West region to be more professional and acquire skills to survive the socio-political climate in the region. Joe Chebongkeng was speaking today in Bamenda during his maiden visit in the region since taking over the media regulatory body.

The Ministry of Transport has set up a watchdog to monitor traffic accidents in the country. Three WhatsApp numbers have also been made available, for passengers to report deviant behaviours exhibited by drivers on the wheel.

Three suspected drug traffickers have been arrested in Yaoundé in the Warda neighbourhood. They were nabbed in an operation carried out by the Gendarmes. The security forces say during the operation, they seized stashes of cocaine, marijuana and cannabis.

The General Certificate of Education, GCE, Board has been criticised for a post on its Facebook page addressing students for being suicidal after failing the end-of-course examination. “Before you think of suicide, kindly collect your slip before thinking of anything stupid. Your life is worth more than anything else,” it read. The institution edited the post and tendered an apology, acknowledging the writeup was sensitive.
