Banin UK Ushers In a New Era of Leadership, Culture, and Community Strength

Sections of the Cameroonian diaspora in the United Kingdom are once again demonstrating the power of unity, cultural pride, and community leadership with the installation of a new executive committee for BANIN UK, the Nso Community Association. The announcement, made during the organisation’s annual Christmas gathering on December 6, 2025, in Leicester, marks a meaningful milestone for one of Cameroon’s most vibrant diaspora communities.

According to the official statement, the newly elected leadership will serve for the next two years, with Sheey Kiven Emmanuel stepping in as President (Taakfəə) and Mrs. Prudence Achiri-Ngu as Vice President (Yeekfəə). Their team comprises committed professionals and community members eager to uplift Nso cultural heritage while fostering solidarity across generations.

Also joining the executive are:
– Secretary General and Deputy: Melvis Kibuh and Sunjo Sylverus
– Financial Secretary: Anita Takeh
– Treasurer: Anita Ekokobe
– Cultural Secretaries: Eucharia Mbinglo, Jaidzeka Joannes, and Shey Tatah George
– Social Secretaries: Bongyong Fanso and Fadi Mathieson Frederick Tinefeh
– Media & Communications: Emmanuel Bongwong and Kenneth Ngalim
– Chief Whip: Shey Divine Singeh Kindzeka

A Celebration of Identity Thousands of Miles from Home

The installation ceremony was more than just an administrative transition—it was a celebration of identity. At a time when many diaspora communities grapple with preserving their cultural roots, the Nso people in the UK continue to shine as an example of what it means to stay connected to home while embracing life abroad.

Members gathered in song, dance, traditional regalia, and heartfelt speeches, demonstrating how cultural institutions like BANIN UK help families maintain a sense of belonging—even thousands of miles away from Cameroon. The event reaffirmed that traditions endure not just in the homeland, but also in the hearts and practices of those living far from it.

Upholding Values While Thriving Abroad

The new committee inherits a legacy of service, cultural promotion, and community empowerment. Through events, welfare initiatives, mentorship, and cultural education, BANIN UK continues to nurture a younger generation that proudly embraces its Nso identity while thriving in British society.

The new committee, therefore, steps into its role with a strong sense of responsibility rooted in service, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. Building on the foundations laid by previous leaders, BANIN UK continues to serve as a vital anchor for the Nso people in the United Kingdom. Through regular community gatherings, welfare support, mentorship, and cultural education, the association has created a space where tradition is not only remembered but actively lived and passed on.

In an environment far removed from home, BANIN UK plays a crucial role in helping members navigate life abroad while remaining deeply connected to their identity. It supports integration into British society without sacrificing cultural values, reinforces family and communal bonds, and nurtures a generation of young people who are confident in both their heritage and their future. This balance between progress and tradition reflects the resilience of Cameroonians in the diaspora—individuals who continue to excel professionally and socially while proudly upholding the customs, language, and values that define them.

A New Chapter for a Growing Community

In its release, BANIN UK wished the newly installed leaders success as they take on the task of guiding the organisation toward a stronger, more united future. Their stewardship is expected to inspire renewed energy within the Nso diaspora and reinforce the message that identity and progress can coexist harmoniously, no matter where one resides.

As diaspora communities continue to shape stories of achievement around the world, the Nso people in the UK stand as a testament to how culture, leadership, and togetherness can flourish far from home—illuminating the enduring spirit of Cameroon across borders.
