Cameroon Football Crisis: Professional League To Finally Kickstart

The Government has finally decided to take a giant stride to end the crisis that has shaken the very core of Cameroon football by making available stadiums across the country for a projected restart of the Cameroon Professional Football League which has not been played for almost a year now.

In a letter Wednesday, Sports Minister, Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi handed to FECAFOOT president, Seidou Mbombo Njoya authority over playgrounds in the country ahead of the imminent relaunch of Footballing competitions across the national territory.

With this, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi also highlighted the Government’s support to Seidou Mbombo Njoya, whose legitimacy at the helm of FECAFOOT has come under scrutiny in recent times, causing the Court of Arbitration for Sports to overturn the Elections that brought him to office.

FIFA has also recognized Njoya as the official and legitimate president of FECAFOOT until new elections are held.

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has equally reechoed Government’s stance by telling all ten regional governors of the country that only the tournament overseen by the FECAFOOT boss will be permitted to take part in stadia across the country.

The official restart date for the Cameroon Professional Football League is fixed for February 27, 2021.
