Cameroon Frowns at Germany and CAR for Poor Security in its Embassies

Cameroon’s handling of the spread of coronavirus is highly criticised home and abroad. While those at home have not taken any action to show their disapproval of government reopening of bars and consequently increasing the number of infected persons, some Cameroonians living in Germany and Central African Republic have shown their discontent.

In two separate audiences granted to the German Ambassador to Cameroon and CAR Ambassador to Cameroon by the Minister of external relations Wednesday May 6th, Minister Lejeune Mbela Mbela asked Germany and CAR to intensify security in Cameroon embassies in their countries.

Minister Lejeune also expressed Cameroon’s dissatisfaction with compulsory COVID-19 tests carried out on Cameroonians in CAR accused of spreading the virus.

This week, Cameroonian activists in Germany stormed the embassy with messages regretting how the regime is failing to handle COVID-19. They decry the total absence of President Paul Biya in the scene to fight against coronavirus.

There was a similar happening in Bangui, Central African Republic.
