Cameroon: Government recruits over 3000 student gendarmes

Cameroon’s Minister of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo has issued a statement, announcing the recruitment of thousands of Cameroonians into the national gendarmerie force, also known as gendarmes.

The examination saw new student gendarmes, non-commissioned officers of the gendarmerie, general service, and military health personnel being admitted into the public service.

“The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence has announced the results of the competitive exams for recruiting personnel into the Gendarmerie. A total of 300 Student Non-Commissioned Officers (General Service), 40 Student Non-Commissioned Officers (Military Health), and 3,000 Student-Gendarmes have been declared successful,” a section of the statement read.

The statement added that “The lists of successful candidates have been published and can be viewed at the Command Posts of the eleven Gendarmerie Legions. Those selected are required to report to their respective training centres on Monday, 05 August 2024. Additionally, the assignments of candidates to various training centres will be posted at the specified locations within the next 48 hours.”

Candidates are expected at their respective training centers on Monday, August 5, 2024.
