A Guinean woman who was recently accused of killing her 4-year-old stepdaughter and fleeing to her country has been arrested in Bonanjo, Douala in the Littoral region of Cameroon.
The 4-year-old girl died after being poisoned by her stepmother. The girl, whose identity is protected because of her age, was found unconscious in her home on Saturday morning in her parents’ home in Douala, Cameroon.
The little girl’s stepmother was earlier reported to have fled out of the country by the local Guinean authorities of Newbell for fear of tarnishing the image of the Guinean community in Cameroon.
The incident occurred when the little girl’s mother left her daughter with her co-wife while going on an errand. This gave her co-wife the opportunity to poison a soft drink she gave the child to drink.
“The little girl’s stepmother poisoned a soft drink she gave her stepdaughter to drink,” reported a close source of the family.
In a bid to preserve the image of the Guinean community in Cameroon, the little girl was buried few hours after being found dead.
The death of the little girl shocked the community of Douala as many kept calling for justice to be made.
The Guinean stepmother is now expected to face her fate in the hands of the forces of law and order.
