Cameroon: Insecurity scares voters in Muea

Muea residents are scared to go out of their homes, following last night’s gunshots. The shootings started at 3:00AM at Government Practising School Muea in Cameroon’s restive South West region.

“It was really thunderous and lasted about 50 minutes. We are still very scared to step out. From the shooting I am certain no electorates will dare step out today…..At about 7 pm yesterday, the military arrived Muea in their amoured cars and ordered every one indoors, ” a Muea resident told Mimi Mefo Info.

This February 9, 2020 Cameroonians are due to take part in the parliamentary and municipal elections. Scores of political parties are vying for the 180 seats in parliament and 360 mayoral posts with the ruling CPDM party saying, it is confident of victory in the polls.
