Cameroon intensifies training ahead of 2023 AFCON

Preparations have reached fever pitch as players of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon await the official kick-off of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The team is currently in intense training in Saudi Arabia. They are due to play a friendly match against Zambia.

The encounter will take place in Jeddah, on January 9th, 2024.

Lions Squad Training in Saudi Arabia

Wilfried Nathan Doualla, the team’s youngest, who was called up by coach Rigobert Song, is already on the training pitch, proving his worth.

“The Lions commence training today in Jeddah ahead of their upcoming friendly match,” a source told MMI.

The team would now proceed to Ivory Coast, which would host the 2023 AFCON.

The Cameroon team recently suffered a setback in their preparations when Equatorial Guinea abruptly cancelled a scheduled friendly match against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, citing a disagreement over the organisation of the match.

The cancellation came as both teams were gearing up for crucial preparations ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Abidjan.

While the match cancellation was not officially announced, a close collaborator of manager and coach Rigobert Song revealed the unexpected development to Equinoxe TV.
