Many have raised concerns after an April 12, 2022 military cooperation agreement between Cameroon and Russia. It covers the areas of piracy and terrorism training , rescue mission in the sea, peace keeping processes, exchanges of security information on defense and security on the international domain. Coming in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine tussle, many think it is Cameroon’s subtle way of reducing dependence on the West.

Associations of traditional rulers from all seven municipalities in Yaounde today received tricycles from the city’s Mayor. The donation intends to facilitate their waste disposal efforts. The offer was made at the end of a session with administrative authorities and officials from waste disposal company, HYSACAM.

A gun battle between separatist fighters and the army today interrupted traffic along the Kumba-Mamfe road in the South West Region. Separatists, it is said, attacked soldiers using an improvised explosive device, triggering a harsh response which left hundreds of passengers stranded for hours.

In the North West Region, travellers along the Bamenda-Babadjou road faced a similar issue for a couple of hours yesterday. The stretch however was not blocked due to a gun battle, but due to the deplorable state of the road. Like every other rainy season, it is fast becoming unusable. For many years today government has maintained promises to fix the road but no action has been done.
