Cameroon: One of three ladies arrested for torturing peer, found pregnant

One of the women who was detained in Douala for bartering with another woman is pregnant.

On August 28th, 2023, Gendarmerie soldiers in the Mambada brigade detained Fogue Morelle, age 21, and two of her friends. Fogue is shown on the left wearing African attire, commonly called ‘kaba.’

After her detention, it was discovered that Fogue was three months pregnant. She and her friends, Adiaba Mbessa Jeanne, 19, and Foh Ndjol Zomedel, 17, are being held in detention after they beat up, shaved, and set a young girl on fire.

There were six of them, and reports say they were fighting over a male lover.

The victim, Marie Therese Ngolingock, 20, is in critical condition, while three of her attackers are on the run.

According to reports, the person who suffered serious injuries has been hospitalised and is responding to care.

It is not known what would happen next after authorities learned about Fogue’s pregnancy.
