Cameroon: Police rescues woman accused by mob of killing her 6-year-old daughter

A woman whose name MMI got as Mulango Yvonne is currently detained at a police station in Kumba, Meme Division of Cameroon’s South West Region, after she was rescued from an angry mob.

Yvonne has been accused by Fiango residents where she lives, of beating her own child, called Salome to death.

A witness told MMI that Yvonne got the child “well beaten and she died just when neighbours trooped in to rescue her from the hands of the mother.”

“The mother cannot really explain what happened to the population, even the child could not say anything before dying” said the eye witness who added that: “The child was crying due to the beatings. Before the neighbors came to the rescue, the child gave up the ghost.”

The incident which occurred on Friday June 2, 2023 pulled a huge crowd at Fiango neighborhood. Some locals notified the police, who stormed the scene and rescued the woman from the being lynched by the irate mob.

She is presently under police custody pending investigations.

It is not known why the mother of three will commit such an act on her own child and why.

MMI is still to get reactions from Yvonne’s family members.

Only a thorough police investigation will reveal whether she is guilty or not.

This is a developing story………
