Global statistics from the Institute of Economics and Peace, IEP, an Australian think tank reveal that Cameroon is the 11th country most affected by terrorism in the world.
This comes after it recorded as many as 37 Boko Haram Attacks in the North Region, with close to 60 deaths.
In Africa, Cameroon is ranked 5th, only behind Somalia, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Mali and Niger.
The statistics also show that over 326 Boko Haram terrorists were eliminated by the Cameroon military between 2014-2021.
This was after Cameroon entered the war against the terrorists officially. Cameroon’s army was deployed to the region to battle with the terrorists, an armed affair that exists to this day.
Since 2014, thousands of Cameroonians from the North Region have fled from the region as a result of the violent insurgencies from the terrorists.
Thousands of Cameroonians have also died from surprise raids, and suicide bombings.
The security personnel in the region have decreased over time, with a redeployment of soldiers to the anglophone speaking regions.
