Cameroon Renaissance Movement dangles disciplinary hammer over militants

In less than a week, two militants of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, the CRM have been suspended by the party headed by Professor Maurice Kamto.

Alex Ngupi and Aureole Tchoumi were found guilty by the CRM committee of mediation and arbitration of disobedience, for use of hate speech and derogatory statements against top members of the government in Cameroon.

According to Tabi Johnson, a member of the committee of mediation and arbitration, “There is no community without discipline. For some time we have noticed that some of our militants do and say things that are out of place. You cannot imagine that some militants represent the party in a media house without the consent of the hierarchy and the communication department?” He says in total disappointment.

Tabi Johnson who doubles as the 4th national vice president of the CRM party adds that ” It’s time the party takes measures to instill discipline before things go out of hand. We have sent out warning signals for all militants home and abroad to respect the party’s disciplinary rules “.

Questioned if strict disciplinary measures will not scare some militants and possibly weaken the party that came on the second position during the 2018 presidential election in Cameroon, Tabi Johnson says “CRM is like a Catholic Church. If the discipline is not good for anyone, he or she can go and when ready to respect the rules the person can come back”.

According to some observers, some militants of the CRM party are violent and indisciplined in their political activities.
