Four persons have been killed including three officers and a civilian — after Boko Haram militants attacked a security check point in Mora, Far North Region of Cameroon.

“The attack took place just at the entrance of Mora. It was orchestrated by unidentified gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram,” a source in Mora told MMI.

The attack on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 led to the death of the following:

-Two custom officers: Ebongue Lovet Esambe and Ndogmo Cedric

-One second grade Police Inspector, Nana Nourou

-A civilian whose name, MMI got as Lakama Madje Kalan.

It is not known why the heavily armed men attacked the security control unit and how they were able to overpower the officers.

“It happened very late in the night, all the officers had fallen asleep. It appears they were taken by surprise,” a source narrated.

Relatives have been inconsolable.

The Governor of the Far North Region of Cameroon has denounced the attack, and urged the population to be vigilant.
