Cameroon: Student dies in military custody in Adamawa

Mainimo Joseph, a student of Government Bilingual High School, Tibati in the Adamawa region has passed away.

The form five student awaiting GCE results reportedly died in the hands of soldiers.

“It was said that he had been smoking ‘mbanga’ and the uncle decided to hand him to the military for him to be handled but unfortunately he was beaten to death” a source claims.

There are however conflicting reports of where exactly he died.

“… All this happened last night around 10pm he was rush to the hospital where he was presumed death; but other sources are saying he died at the military camp at Tibati- Adamawa” our source added.

Staff and students of the school as well as the late student’s family have been mourning since.
