Cameroon takes preventive measures against coronavirus

The government of Cameroon has put in place preventive measures at Nsimalen airport in Yaounde. The minister of public health visited the airport today.

Dr. Manaounda Malachie called on Cameroonians to maximize personal and environmental hygiene. The measure the minister says will be extended to other entry and exit points in Cameroon.

Talking to the media, the minister earlier today, he said “We have set up a surveillance system at Cameroon airports and port entry points… In some health facilities … we have also identified and prepared isolation rooms.”

“We are doing our best to ensure that every Cameroonian, wherever he/she is, is safe” he added.

No case of coronavirus has been detected in Cameroon according to official information but citizens have been advised to call the number 1510 to report any suspected case of coronavirus.

The government of Cameroon has intensified efforts to prevent the virus since it was detected in neighboring Federal republic of Nigeria last week.

Since the outbreak in Wuhan, China, thousands have been infected across over 40 nations worldwide with many deaths recorded.
