Cameroon: Thunder strikes woman and daughter to death

Residents in the town of Magba have been in shock after lightning struck and killed a woman and her daughter. Magba is located in the Noun Division, in Cameroon’s West Region.

An inhabitant of Magba told the press that the thunder struck the two women when it was close to nightfall.

“A lightning bolt hit the woman and her daughter at the same time. The girl was close to her mother. At first, we thought it was just something small, but by the time we realized what was going on, she was already dead,” the local narrated.

Many have described the incident as “strange,” with others advancing supernatural causes

“If care isn’t taken, some illnesses could spread to the rest of the family,” a source said, adding that “these illnesses could include pain in the legs and being friends with thunder.”

Reports say that a traditional leader called a meeting with some important notables to address the issue.

But this is not the first time that a Cameroonian has been hit by lightning.

Exactly six months ago, lightning in Bui Division, North West Region of Cameroon, killed Reverend Abeh Ngangieh, a prominent member of the Presbyterian church in Cameroon.

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Cameroon, the Right Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba, said in a statement that “the sudden and unfortunate death of Rev. Abeh Ngangieh of Mendzem Parish Bui Presbytery was caused by lightning.”

In 2009, a lightning strike killed five children as they were getting ready for school in the North West Region of Cameroon.

After the same thing happened, 34 students were taken to the hospital to be treated for shock and other problems.
