Cameroon to wait until January 2022 to host AFCON

The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will only take place in January 2022 in Cameroon.

Earlier scheduled for January 2021, the Confederation of African Football CAF has postponed the competition as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

This period will permit teams to play qualification matches interrupted by the pandemic.

Meantime, the African Football Championship (CHAN) will take place in January 2021. The championship was to take place in April 2020 in Cameroon.

These are some of the decisions taken by CAF executive meeting Tuesday June 30th in Cairo, Egypt.
