Two fixtures headline today’s action in the Cameroon Veterans Football League (CVF) Division 5. At 2:00 PM, Camder FC Veterans Team A hosts Wellingborough Lions Veterans FC at the Leisure United Derby Racecourse. One hour later, Brum Veteran FC looks to bounce back as they take on All Saints Wolverhampton at the University of Wolverhampton’s Walsall site.
Both matches are expected to shape the Division 5 standings, with All Saints entering the day in top form following a commanding victory on May 24.
In a match marked by strong individual performances and off-field challenges, All Saints Wolverhampton secured a convincing 5–1 win over Brum Veteran FC. The game was initially delayed due to an unmarked pitch at Gospel Oak Sports Centre, forcing a last-minute venue change. Kickoff was pushed back by nearly an hour.
Despite the disruptions, All Saints took control early. Forward Edwin Abang, wearing the No. 9 shirt, opened the scoring in the 15th minute and added two more in the second half to complete a hat-trick. His goals were the standout moments of a one-sided affair.
Portman Haris doubled the lead before halftime, and substitute Fred Nchang added a fourth shortly after coming on. Brum’s lone goal came from Frederick Makebe in the 88th minute.
Final score: All Saints 5 – 1 Brum Veteran FC
While the football delivered quality, several logistical issues affected the day. The initial venue was not properly prepared, leading to a change of location shortly before kickoff. Equipment problems, including the lack of a spare ball and no inflator on site, further delayed proceedings.
These issues raised concerns about matchday operations in the CVF. Players and officials adapted well, but league organisers have since faced calls for improved preparation standards.
The Cameroon Veterans Football League serves the Cameroonian community in the UK, offering competitive matches for players aged 35 and older. The league promotes fitness, camaraderie, and cultural connection through sport. It has grown in recent years, featuring multiple divisions and teams across the Midlands and beyond.
While still developing in terms of infrastructure and coordination, the CVF remains a key platform for experienced players who continue to value the competitive spirit of football.
