Several persons are feared dead and many others injured following a stampede at the entrance to the Olembe Stadium in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé.
The incident occurred on Monday evening as tens of thousands queued up to watch the Africa Cup of Nations encounter between the host nation, Cameroon and Comoros.
Amongst the deceased victims is Desmond Ebaneck, an auditor at Cameroon’s Supreme Court, who hails from the North West Region.
Cameroonian officials are yet to issue a statement on the exact number of casualties, but unconfirmed reports have put the death toll at over five.
