After a Pre-tournament in which the Intermediate Lions showed a rather dissapointing side to the public, many expected them to capitulate infront of their home fans. The inconsistencies in the squad of Coach Ndtoungou Mpile was becoming very worrisome for the Cameroonian public, making many to see their involvement in the CHAN a mere participation.
Having qualified for the Quarter Finals by thread, the Intermediate Lions met two times Champions and Favorite of the competition DR Congo, which they surprisingly knocked out of the competition, pitting them to face another overwhelming favorite, Morocco.
Though the win by the Intermediate Lions has been termed unmerited due to the controversial Covid19 saga that rocked the DRC Delegation.
Incensed by the Poor treatment received in Cameroon, prior to their crunch Quarter Final game against Cameroon, the DRC Delegation launched an appeal to CAF against Cameroon.
The DRC is demanding for sanctions to be meted on Cameroon and for reparations for damages to be done following the Covid-19 controversy which according to them psychologically affected their team even before kickoff.
Despite the controversy of the quarter finals, Cameroon have a chance to redeem themselves against practically the strongest side in the tournament. A strong showing today and a qualification ticket to the finals will probably be a convincing response to most critics.
