Cameroonian Blogger Disappears Amid Disturbing Social Media Posts

The Cameroonian blogger behind the popular blog “Culture Camerounaise” has gone missing after posting alarming messages on social media.

The news of the blogger’s disappearance sent shockwaves through the internet on the morning of Friday, November 24, 2023.

The Cameroonian blogger left his extensive following of over 338,000 in a state of panic when he changed his profile picture the previous evening, accompanied by a caption that read “It’s The End.” Initially perceived as a possible prank by the followers, the situation escalated when another Cameroonian blogger confirmed the disappearance, dating back to 2 p.m. the day before.

According to Peupah Zouzoua, a well-known blogger, the young individual had left his residence at 2 p.m., informing a neighbour that he was “coming.” Some relatives reportedly received messages from him expressing that he could no longer endure the situation.

His phone line was active initially but has since gone unanswered, raising serious concerns among his family and friends. In leaked WhatsApp conversations, the blogger revealed his desire to end his life, stating, “It’s time; I want to die…Glad to have known you,” to one of his relatives.

Many attribute the distressing situation to a possible emotional breakdown on the blogger’s part. Reacting to the news on Facebook, Lam emphasised the reality of depression, stating, “Depression is real, although it is still trivialised in our country. Strength to this young blogger, and may God help him.”

On social media, users expressed their admiration for the blogger’s contributions to society and prayed for his safe return. Anette Ikono shared, “This guy helped me a lot in promoting my activities. Very professional. I always respected his commitments. I pray to the Lord that nothing bad happens to him. Wherever you are, whatever you are going through right now, please think of your family and your loved ones.”

Family members are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid in locating the missing blogger.

As friends, followers, and well-wishers anxiously await his return, they collectively hope for the blogger’s safe and sound reappearance.
