Cameroonian journalist emerges winner at Oxford University’s Global Leadership Challenge

Arrey Bate, a London-based Cameroonian pressman has been declared winner of the 2021 Global Leadership Challenge at Oxford University. His three-man group was one of 25 other partaking at the intellectual session.


Bate’s teammates included South Africa’s Ruby-Anne Birin, Britain’s Ben James and Vietnam’s Duong Thuy Vu.
“They clustered us into 25 groups and we were asked to create and pitch a project that contributes to one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” Arrey Bate explained.


Describing his team mates as dedicated, the journalist and internet entrepreneur said they put in their all to seek digital solution to everyday challenges.


“We created and pitched a project called GALE (Global Access for Learning about the Environment) which utilises WhatsApp to make Climate Education accessible to those most affected by it,” he revealed.


The winning pitch was presented before a team of top tier entrepreneurs, professors of the University of Oxford and the Canadian ambassador to China.


The University of Oxford’s 2021 Global Leadership Challenge convened 100 promising young leaders to address some of the most pressing challenges faced by the world today.
