Cameroonians in panic as Coronavirus breaks in the country

It has been the talk of the town in Cameroon.

The detection of a French man suffering from Coronavirus in Yaounde.

According to a release signed by Cameroon’s Minister of public health Friday February 6th 2020, the 58- year- old patient arrived Cameroon on the 24th of February 2020.

The terrifying number of people that have died in the Peoples Republic of China and other developed countries as a result of the virus has left many Cameroonians uncertain of the future of Cameroon with a limping health care system .

“I am afraid of what the future holds for Cameroonians given that medically Cameroon is really weak to tackle such a complicated disease “. Richard Ekwen;a business man in Douala laments while stating that cholera has been a threat talk less of what Coronavirus can do to the population.

Others point accusing fingers on the government of Cameroon for not taking efficient preventive measures at the airports and other entry and exit points in the country when the virus was discovered in China.

To Dr. Nick Ngwayam;medical doctor and proprietor of St Louis medical institution in Douala, Cameroonians should adopt compulsory personal and environmental hygiene as a first step towards to barring the way against Coronavirus. He adds that people should avoid body contacts while constantly washing their hands with soap.

Dr. Manaounda Malache, minister of public health says the Coronavirus patient has been quarantined at the Yaounde General hospital. He later announced that a second case had been recorded and was also in quarantine.
