Cameroon’s Ambassador to Switzerland Leonard Henri BINDZI has sent threats to some Cameroonians in the Diaspora who according to him, are planning to stage an Anti-Biya Protest in Switzerland where President Paul Biya is believed to be holidaying. The protest is billed for Saturday June 29, 2019.
The ambassador says information at his disposal shows that, the method, means and motives of this planned manifestation are violent and patriotic Cameroonians should dissociate themselves from it.
The Ambassador threatens that strategic measures have been taken with Swiss authorities and in conformity with international rights and diplomatic Canons to “bring down protesters”.
He also claims that advocates of the planned Anti Biya Protest, coming from across Europe, plan to destroy the Intercontinental Hotel in Switzerland, and Swiss authorities should guard against the move.
Paul Biya’s recent visit to Europe comes after he has spent close to one year on the Cameroonian soil. Observers hold it was connected to increasing threats from Cameroonians in the diaspora who have been organising series of protest against the close to 40-years-old regime.
