Cameroon’s journalism guru, Professor Enoh Tanjong laid to rest

Professor Enoh Tanjong, the brain behind the department of Journalism and mass communication (JMC) in the University of Buea, South West Region of Cameroon has been buried.

His funeral ceremony took place today Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Molyko stadium in Buea — in the presence of hundreds of University officials, students, relatives and welwishers.

According to Dr Lizzie Wantchami, Newly Installed JMC Head of Department, “I call him my academic father…Professor Enoh Tanjong was my supervisor right from the undergraduate, master and PhD level.”

“He has been an instrumental person in my life… He Inspired me and asked me to be outspoken,” Dr Lizzie Wantchami went on.

To Funge Diffang a JMC lecturer, Professor Enoh Tanjong was a force to reckon with. To him, hard work was key to success. “He will make you understand that if you work very hard, you will get what you want. To him, nothing is impossible as long as you put in effort.”

Enoh Tanjong popularly referred to as “the Pope” of of JMC passed unto glory on Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Yaounde, Center Region of Cameroon.

Professor Enoh Tanjong was a seasoned expert in Journalism and Mass Communication with over 30 years of experience in media and communication education, media research and consultancies on news assessment.

He was the brain behind the creation of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department of the University of Buea which has trained some of Cameroon’s finest journalists.
