Cameroon’s Ko-C pre-nominated under three categories for Grammy Awards



Cameroon’s rapper, Ko-c, has been pre-nominated for the Grammy Awards under three categories. He Join Stanley Enow to compete for the prestigious award.



Cameroon’s prolific rapper, Njang Mengu Collins, popularly known as Ko-c has been pre-nominated for the 66th edition of the American Grammy Awards.

He has been nominated in the “Best New Act”, and “Best Global Album” with GENESIS and “Best African Music Performance” categories.



This is the the first time Ko-c is up for such an international award despite winning multiple local awards in Cameroon, such as the Urban Jamz award, Balafon music awards, Muzikol, Green Light awards, and many others. In 2023, Ko-C was shortlisted alongside three Cameroonian musicians for the first TRACE Awards.



Ko-c began his music career by writing songs and sending them to his friends for feedback. He wrote his first song “Town Player” at the age of 20 and began music professionally in the year 2015 when he joined the group of five known as “PIM Boys” (Preach It Movement).



In 2017, he signed with Big Dreams Entertainment and rose to prominence the following year after releasing “Balance Remix” featuring Ténor. He spent three successful years with Big Dreams Entertainment, and in 2020, he decided to go solo again by creating his own label, Power House Entertainment.



Ko-c became popular under the record label Big Dreams in where he released a couple of hits which quickly made him gain ground in Cameroon amongst which “Bolo c’est bolo” “Caro” and others. His latest hit, “Deux Oeufs Spaghetti” (loosely translated as two eggs and spaghetti) is now counting more than 11 million views on YouTube released 8 months ago.



Ko-c has expressed his excitement over this recognition on his handles with words of gratitude.



“Hailing from a small town in Cameroon known as Kumba, where it all began, the passion was simply to create the kind of music the world would dance to.”



“Today, we’re going to big stages like the Grammys! Thank you Recording Academy / Grammys. Thanks to the fans, we have 3 categories for the Grammy Consideration. I’m grateful; we’re going harder,” he added.



Many fans are now looking forward to February with the hope of seeing their rap artist win in at least one of the categories. The 66th edition of the Grammy Awards will be holding in Los Angeles on February 4, 2023.
