Cameroon’s team manager unveils list of players to face Mexico, excludes Onana

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon’s team coach, Rigobert Song has unveiled the list of players to face Mexico on June 10, 2023.

Conspicuously absent is the team’s former goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

It was widely reported recently that Onana was expected to join the national football team — months after he fell out with Song during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was eventually dismissed for indiscipline.

The President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) also referred to Onana as his son, and said he was welcome to join the team anytime.

But his absence on the just-published list has prompted many to question whether the issues between him and the team coach have finally been addressed.

The friendly game will however see the comeback of Fabrice Ondoa who represented Cameroon at two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the 2017 edition.

The game will serve as preparation against the upcoming 2024 African Cup of Nations tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast.
