Can Njie Clinton work his way back into the Cameroon national team?

The Indomitable Lions forgotten man, Njie Clinton, is putting together some frightening stats in this pre-season with his new club, Sivasspor, in the Turkish league.

Clinton Njie has not been called up to the national team since his penalty miss against Egypt at the AFCON semifinals hosted on home soil. One of the main reasons for this snub by coach Rigobert Song was his awful club form.

The emergence of key players like Bryan Mbuemo and the return of form to players like Toko Ekambi and Choupo Moting meant the South West Region-born player had no place in the team.

However, Clinton’s displays for Sivasspor in the pre-season may force coach Rigobert Song to rethink. The player has put together a scoring streak of six goals in six consecutive games to mark a potential revival of his dwindling football career.

Njie Clinton must, however, replicate his pre-season form in official games when the season starts to force his way back into the national team. His performances are a huge statement, as the list of players for the crucial AFCON qualification bout against Burundi should be out in a couple of weeks.
