Canal d’Or Act 14 Awards: Krys M, PhillBill, Emy Dany Bassong Shine Bright

On October 28, 2023, the prestigious Canal d’Or Act 14 Awards took place at the Palais de Congrès in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The awards ceremony celebrated the best in African music and film, and some of the biggest names in the industry took home trophies.

That night, Krys M won big, receiving awards for Popular Song, Best Female Artist, and Best Female Urban Afro Music Artist. PhillBill had a strong night and won the award for Best Male Urban Afro Music Artist. Emy Dany Bassong received the Best Actress award for her performance in the web series Nyang Bikol. Emy also won for the second time in a row, the award of Best Comedian, making it a brace for the evening.

Reacting to the win on Facebook, Emy Dany Bassong wrote: “First trophy from my production house Doll Harley filmmaker through her web series #nyang_bikol (single mother) produced by Edbass Entertainment. Galvanising to work even harder. Thank you, Canal D’Or. CONGRATULATIONS TO MY WHOLE TEAM!THANK YOU, MY LOVERS.”

Also reacting to his brace, PhillBill thanked a wide range of people.

“Thank God! My ancestors, Predecessors, My spiritual fathers Apostle John Chi & #Evangelist_ketchem, My team, all bloggers, media (TV & radio, newspapers) personalities DJs, influencers, my FANS ( SHABANOVAZ ) Those that I haven’t mentioned who have been stepping stones to my career & to YOU YES YOU reading this THANK YOU & GOD BLESS YOU.. Now let’s get back to work,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

The ceremony was a celebration of the best in African music and film, and the winners are truly deserving of their accolades. It also saw the attendance of Cameroon’s First Lady Chantal Biya.
