Capital flight: CBC Acquires School Complex In Bafoussam

The ongoing Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon is landing a huge blow to the educational sector of the North West and South West regions.

Before 2016 when the crisis erupted, Bamenda, Buea, Limbe and other towns in the two English speaking regions of Cameroon were vibrant as far as education is concerned. Today, it’s a shadow of itself.

Education was one of the priorities of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, the PCC as well as the Catholics, Apostolic, Full Gospel and others. Nowadays, majority of these schools have been relocated to or created in other French speaking regions.

Recently, the Executive President of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, Rev Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne announced that the CBC had finally succeeded to acquire a school in Bafoussam.

According to the Education Secretary of the CBC, Nyanganji Job Indi, the structure is an existing school complex which ended the 2020/2021 academic year with more than 2500 students and pupils in the nursery, primary, secondary and high school sections.

The school offers general education subjects in Arts and the Sciences, with well equipped laboratories in the science, ICT, food science and nutrition sectors. He added that “the school offers technical, commercial and vocational education at both levels with well equipped workshops.”

Apart from these, the school has five buses for the transportation of students and pupils, a complete orchestra and a giant standby generator and it is bilingual, a status quo that will be maintained.

The doors of the school complex are wide open as registration is currently going on as the 2021/2022 school year steadily approaches.

Despite the gradual falling standards of education in Anglophone Cameroon, the North West and South West regions still continue to top the chart in end of course examinations.
