Cardinal Tumi’s Demise: SDF Extends Condolences to Roman Catholic Church

The Social Democratic Front, SDF, through its party Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi has extended a message of condolence to the entire Roman Catholic Church Congregation of Cameroon following the death of Cameroon’s lone cardinal ever, His Eminence Cardinal Christian Tumi.

“The Social Democratic Front (SDF) received, like everybody else, this morning the sad news of the passing unto Glory, of His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi, a true Shepherd of the Lord, a committed patriot, a justice and peace crusader, an open encyclopedia of rare standing and a moral colossus. We are struggling to accommodate the fact that Cameroon will forge on without this Statesman and Pastor with unparalleled qualities” a portion of the letter read.

“Cameroonians,” he added, “have missed an opportunity to benefit from the savvy of this Prelate who selflessly proposed a panacea to end the un-going socio political crisis. The only thing we can do as humans at this sad moment is to pray for his gentle soul to find peace at the bosom of the Most High God…”.

The Archbishop Emeritus of the Douala Archdiocese is confirmed to have died yesterday evening, Good Friday. Cardinal Christian Tumi died at the age of 91, and would best be remembered for his strong stance on political matters irrespective of whom it concerned.

His last Public Highlight was when he was kidnapped and spent close to two days in separatist captivity in the North West Region.
