CAS Orders Reinstatement of Dismissed FECAFOOT Personnel

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has taken bitter decisions against the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and ordered the reinstatement of some dismissed personnel.

One of these decisions includes the restoration of The Panthère Sportive of Nde, which had been sanctioned by Fecafoot. The Western Club, by implication, is expected to go back to the first division and benefit from a compensation of 3000 Swiss francs.

In another decision, CAS canceled all the resolutions of the August 2022 General Assembly of Fecafoot. Thus, Guibai Gatama, who was removed from the executive committee of FECAFOOT, is expected to return to the committee. FECAFOOT has been ordered to pay him the sum of 5000 Swiss Francs.

Magistrate Gilbert Schlick has been reinstated as head of the FECAFOOT electoral commission, while the Professional Football League of Cameroon (LFPC) of General Semengue has also been reinstated.

The president of the regional League of the West, Mr. Koedem, formerly struck off, has also been reinstalled in his functions by the CAS, while Barrister Achet has also been reinstalled as president of the FECAFOOT appeals committee.

In addition, FECAFOOT is expected to fully bear the costs of these procedures and is therefore waiting for the CAS to issue a new decision to determine the amount of the procedural costs.

These decisions fall like a cleaver for the allies of Samuel Eto’o at a time when the Confederation of African Football has just announced the opening of an investigation against the one who has been leading Cameroonian football since 2021.
