Catholic Church Creates Commission to Monitor October 7 Polls

Samuel Kleda says the US election monitor result is campaign strategy.

The Catholic Church has announced the putting in place of a peace and justice commission to monitor the October 7 presidential elections in Cameroon.

The Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese in Douala and President of the National Episcopal Conference was speaking in a press conference this morning.

His Lordship Samuel Kleda said the role of the church is not to chose a leader but to caution Christians, journalists and Cameroonians in general to maintain peace while choosing a leader who will be able to address the political, social and economic problems plaguing Cameroon.

Archbishop Kleda described the Anglophone crisis as a problem amplified by injustice and bad governance and called on the state to pilot a genuine dialogue.

The Archbishop described as campaign strategy, the result of the US election monitor attributing victory to Paul Biya by 81% . He said the late Bishop of Edea Diocese, Dieudonne Bogmis died a natural death according to result of an autopsy conducted by the forensic department of the police from Yaounde.
