Catholic Church: Ebolowa hosts 2023 annual seminar of National Episcopal Conference

The 2023 annual seminar of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon (NECC) is currently being hosted by the Diocese of Ebolowa.

The annual seminar kick-started on the evening of Saturday, January 7, 2023, with the arrival of Catholic Bishops from different parts of the country — and will end on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

They were all welcomed by Bishop Philippe Alain MBARGA, bishop of Ebolowa and Vice President of NECC.

The official opening Mass for the one-week seminar took place on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in the Cathedral in Ebolowa.

The Challenges of Proclaiming the Gospel Today in the Context of the Apostolic Constitution: “Predicate Evangelium” is the theme of the ongoing conference.

On March 19, 2022, Pope Francis unveiled the Apostolic Constitution re-organizing the Vatican Curia, grouping all departments into Dicasteries, and giving the Dicastery for Evangelization the pride of place.

“The Church exists to proclaim the Person and Message of Jesus Christ, and this should therefore be at the center of the mission of the Church,” says Father Tarah Mbuy.

“In a world full of new developments, the challenges to evangelization are legion; the reason why the bishops want to examine those difficulties incumbent on the Church which is in Cameroon,” he adds.

On Monday, January 9, 2023, There will be an official opening ceremony.

A final resolution is awaited.
