Centre Region: All Nightclubs Must Have Fire Extinguishers, Emergency Exits – Governor orders

Following the tragic loss of over 16 persons in a fire incident at the LIVS Nightclub in Yaounde early this week, Center Region Governor Nasseri Paul Bea has ordered that all Nightclubs henceforth must take precautions beforehand.

The Governor has ordered all Nightclubs to acquire fire extinguishers and to make room for emergency exit doors in their facilities.

Unannounced checks, he warned, would be done to follow up with the order.

He said on CRTV that “Any relaxation place that will not comply with this will be immediately shut down… We are in the process of creating commissions that will ensure that the order is being followed.”

Several families who had victims at the LIVS Nightclub fire explosion are still in grief at the unfortunate incident.

Multiple reports have it that the fire was triggered by a gas leakage inside the club. The initial sparks were not quickly detected, hence leading to the unfortunate tragedy on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
