Chad: Insecurity cause massive influx into Cameroon

Hundreds of Chadian citizens have entered Cameroon, precisely in the border town of Kousseri from Ndjamena, the capital of the Republic of Chad.

The citizens of Chad are being driven away due to the emergence of a rebel group which is threatening the peace and integration of the country.

The group is still in the northern part of the country, but is making strides and gradually making movements towards the south, particularly aiming for the capital, N’djamena.

The population of the Chadian capital, struck by fear of the impending doom awaiting them have together with Cameroonians residing in Chad massively flocked into Kousseri where they expect to be in security.

Given the fact that the Gueli Bridge which links Cameroon to Chad has been shut down due to barrier restrictions as a result of the coronavirus, the immigrants have chosen to cross over through the use of canoes and boats.

In the same vein, American authorities have equally made a call to all its diplomats and citizens working in N’djamena to evacuate the country as soon as possible, same as France to its citizens.
