Change the Amba Narrative, Report Govt’s Efforts In Bringing Normalcy to NW/SW Regions – PM Dion Ngute Tells Journalists

Cameroon’s Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Dion Ngute Joseph, has challenged journalists to desist from extremist reports that fuel the armed conflict in the two English speaking regions. He says they should educate, and sensitise the population on the so many achievements attained by government in restoring normalcy in the restive regions.

He was speaking at the conference room of Mt Hotel, Buea this Tuesday, September 21, 2021, while on a working visit to preach the achievements of the Major National Dialogue, two years after.

“Schools are more than 50% operational in the Southwest region. I wonder why that is not being trumpeted on your media. Look at how the CDC is progressively gaining it’s exportation strengths, look at these posivte developments,” the PM appealed to reporters.

The PM also used the opportunity to expand on the progress made since the Major National Dialogue. He indicated that the Special Status is increasingly bearing good fruits for the population of the two English speaking regions.

“It’s only in the North-West and South-West Regions that there’s an independent concilator. It’s in the assemblies of the two regions that there will be bicameral legislature,” he expounded.

Meanwhile, journalists were given the opportunity to air out their challenges and how they can effectively communicate government’s efforts in restoring peace and normalcy in the two regions.

The PM’s visit wraps up this Wednesday, September 22, 2021 when he holds an enlarged multipurpose symposium with the population of the Southwest Region, to seek ways of consolidating the gains of the Major National Dialogue.

The meeting is expected to take place at the National Advanced School of Local Administrators (NASLA).

The PM’s visit to the Southwest Region comes on the heels of celebrations marking the World Peace Day.
